I was passing the Congregational Church on Saturday with DH and there was a sign saying book sale free entry. Well he always wants to go and peruse.........This time though we had just been walking Bella and I did not have any money on me so he was quite surprised when I found a book......I think it was a bargain and we knocked the seller down by .50p
Anyway, I had read about Amy a few years ago and so when I saw this on the shelves I knew it was going to be interesting. I have not read it all through yet but my intention is not to follow completely in her footsteps (as if anyone could ever be as good) but to derive an essence of her work and incorporate it into something I make. Not sure what it will be yet.

She was a wonderful lady!
I had pleasure of spending a whole weekend with her in 1987. We had adjoining stalls at a craft display and just chatted nonstop for 2 days. That was long before I discovered quilting but I was gobsmacked at how fast she worked.I didn't realise that I was talking to a legend.
She reckoned 3 weeks for a large double quilt!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky you, it always amazes me how you can bump into legends and they are just wonderful folk. Did she reveal any special likes and dislikes? I imagine she would have a strong personality but I could be wrong.
She was just a kind, sort of confident but very unassuming lady from up the Dales. :o) Guess she must have been about 80 something then? I was showing collector cloth dolls which she was very taken with and I was bowled over with her quilting. The wedding dress for her daughter (?) was there centre stage!
